Alikhan Smailov instructed to speed up work on compensation for damage to entrepreneurs

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting at the Digital Office of the Government with the participation of heads of central state bodies and akims of the regions to implement the instructions given by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the beginning of this year.

During the unrest in the country, 351 properties were damaged, which require repair and restoration work. Of these, 45 government buildings and 306 commercial facilities in 8 regions. These are the cities of Almaty, Shymkent, as well as Almaty, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Atyrau, Aktobe and East Kazakhstan regions.

Preliminary damage to business amounted to 98.1 billion tenge, of which Almaty accounts for 97%.

Alikhan Smailov instructed the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, together with the akimats of the regions, to complete the work on the technical and expert examination of the affected buildings and assess the cost of repair work on time, followed by the submission of the necessary documentation to the Ministry of Finance.

The Government Commission for assessing damage from the riots, together with local executive bodies, was instructed to promptly complete the damage assessment and send to the Ministry of National Economy a list of affected businesses and the amount of damage they suffered.

“The Government is ready to carry out the necessary procedure on a weekly basis to allocate funds for prompt assistance to affected entrepreneurs,” Smailov said.

The Head of Government stressed the importance of preventing the growth of coal prices, instructing to work out this issue with coal mining companies, as well as to conduct an analysis in order to avoid an unreasonable increase in coal transportation tariffs.

“Some companies have overstated tariffs for the services of access roads and dead ends, which need to be reviewed,” Smailov concluded.
