Alikhan Smailov introduces new akim of Kostanay region

Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov arrived to Kostanay city, where he took part in a meeting of maslikhats deputies of all levels of Kostanay region.

During the meeting the Prime Minister read out to the deputies a letter from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the submission for consideration of two candidates for the post of akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov and Aslan Zhanyspayev.

Alikhan Smailov emphasized that each of the candidates has the necessary competence and experience to effectively manage the region.

As a result of an open vote, 192 out of 244 deputies supported the candidacy of Aksakalov, 52 deputies voted for Zhanyspayev.

Presenting Kumar Aksakalov to the region, the Prime Minister said that the akimat set tasks for further economic development and social issues of the region. In particular, new measures on increase of standard of living and welfare of the population are provided within the limits of the pre-election program of the Head of state "Fair Kazakhstan is for all and for everyone. Now and forever".

Alikhan Smailov added that in the next few years the region plans to build 9 new schools for 7,500 places, 25 primary healthcare facilities and modernize 2 district hospitals. In addition, measures are planned for the development of the agro-industrial complex and rural business.

"Machine-building is also of special importance for the economy of the region. In this direction it is important to work on increasing the level of localization, expanding the range of products and training of highly qualified personnel," he said.

However, Prime Minister drew attention to the need to intensify the implementation of measures to upgrade social facilities, housing and energy infrastructure, launch new industrial projects, create jobs and improve the quality of local roads.

"The regional authorities also need to take measures to ensure the stable passage of the heating season and to prevent emergencies at thermal power plants and heating mains," Alikhan Smailov concluded.
