Alikhan Smailov meets with leaders of agricultural organizations in Pavlodar region

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, arrived on a working visit to the Pavlodar region. In the region, the Head of Government will familiarize with the growth rate of industry and agriculture, the progress of modernization of social infrastructure, and hold a meeting on the integrated development of the region.

First of all, Alikhan Smailov visited AgroTrade PV LLP the state-supported farm, which is engaged in potato growing using modern irrigation technology on an area of 1,700 hectares. In addition, the company built a vegetable storage facility with a capacity of 10,000 tons and is building a dairy farm with a capacity of 10,000 tons of milk per year. Total investment in the project amounted to 11 billion tenge, of which 7,6 billion tenge preferential Agrarian credit corporation credit line, and 2,7 billion tenge came from of subsidies.

Having acquainted with the work of the farm, the Head of Government noted the need to implement similar projects in other regions.

"Now, against the background of aggravating food security issues and rising food prices all over the world, we should focus on the development of agricultural projects where modern water-saving technologies are applied. I believe that such projects should be replicated in other regions. With some support from the state, this will give a great social and economic effect," the Prime Minister said.

Alikhan Smailov also held a meeting with the heads of regional agricultural organizations, where they raised the issues of subsidizing seed production, the purchase of agricultural equipment and mineral fertilizers, the development of livestock and support for the poultry industry.

On each question, Head of the Government gave a detailed comment and instructed the leadership of the region to keep them under control.

Then Prime Minister visited the Kazakhstan electrolysis plant with a capacity of 250 tons of aluminum per year, which sends products to the domestic market, as well as exports to Turkey, the Netherlands, Brazil, USA, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Norway and other countries.

Alikhan Smailov noted that the plant makes a significant contribution to the regional economy and responsibly approaches its social obligations. At the same time, the Prime Minister added, it was necessary to maintain the pace of production and export orientation, as well as to enter new markets.

At the company, Alikhan Smailov held a meeting with the heads of major industrial enterprises, including a Eurasian Group LLP, Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC, Eurasian Energy Corporation JSC, and Transnational Company Kazchrome JSC.

During the meeting, the issues of the transition to modern production technologies, the environmental protection, the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere and the introduction of automatic air quality monitoring systems were discussed.

The Prime Minister stressed that together with major enterprises it is necessary to work on the issue of creating a Green Belt around Pavlodar, which will significantly improve the ecology of the city.

"Reducing emissions and recycling production waste are some of the most pressing issues, especially for the residents of the region, so we need tangible results in this direction. Large enterprises need to switch to advanced environmentally friendly and affordable technologies. Mining and metallurgical and energy industrial enterprises need to develop a strategy to reduce, recycle and reuse industrial waste," Alikhan Smailov said. 

 

Akimat of the region together with the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, and enterprises have been instructed to conduct research on the application of modern technologies to reduce emissions and processing of industrial waste.

Then the Head of Government visited the Steklomir LLP enterprise for the production of architectural glass and interior items made of glass, which in different years has received state support under the Roadmap for Business and the Economy of Simple Things programs. The company's products are sold in the domestic market and in neighboring countries.

Alikhan Smailov noted that against the background of the development of the construction industry the need for building materials is growing. In this regard, the Government is ready to support this production direction in every possible way.

"We welcome the activity of domestic producers of building materials. Such enterprises allow us to significantly reduce construction costs and reduce dependence on fluctuations in world prices," the Prime Minister concluded.
