Kazakhstan and Singapore to cooperate on development of new city in Almaty region

Today at the Astana International Financial Center, Prime Minister Askar Mamin got acquainted with the updated master plan for the development of a new city in the Almaty region – G4 City.

The metropolis will be located along the Almaty - Kapshagai highway and will consist of four districts: Gate District – business and financial hub, Golden District – knowledge and medical hub, Growing District – industrial and logistics hub, Green District – tourism and entertainment.

G4 City will be given the status of a special economic zone. It is planned to build an international airport and open direct flights to Singapore.

G4 City is expected to become a new economic hub for Central Asia and will give a serious impetus to further growth of foreign investment in the economy of Kazakhstan. By 2050, 2.2 million people will live in the metropolis, more than 1 million jobs will be provided.

By now, the main engineering networks have been installed in the Gate District, the construction of the Koyankus residential area is underway, it is planned to build at least 300 thousand square meters of housing within 3.5 years.

The G4 City concept masterplan was developed by Surbana Jurong Group, a leading urban, infrastructure, and managed services consulting firm in Asia. Surbana Jurong Group employs about 16,000 people and operates in over 40 countries around the world. Surbana Jurong Group has built more than a million homes in Singapore, created master plans in more than 60 countries and designed over 100 industrial parks globally.

As a result of the presentation, the Kazakh company Caspian Group JSC and Surbana Jurong Group signed an agreement on further cooperation in the implementation of the G4 City project.
