Zhumangarin and Overchuk discuss bilateral trade and economic cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin met with Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk to discuss issues of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries on Sept. 22, 2022 as part of his working visit to Moscow.

During the negotiations topical issues of bilateral cooperation in various sectors of the economy were raised. Among the most important from the Kazakhstani side were the Astrakhan-Mangyshlak water pipeline reconstruction project, supplies of steel products to Russia, transit of Kazakhstani coal and iron ore as well as restrictions for unrestricted export of goods to Kazakhstan. On all issues the participants of the meeting expressed readiness for close interaction to work out and solve them as soon as possible.

The parties also noted the positive dynamics of mutual trade between the two countries. In Jan-July 2022, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia amounted to $ 13.7 billion, which is 3.5% higher than during the same period of the previous year ($ 13.2 billion).
