The main events of the week from June 22 to June 28, 2020

  • On June 23, the Prime Minister Askar Mamin took part in the nationwide online forum BIZ BIRGEMIZ chaired by the Head of State. Addressing the participants, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that all countries of the world, including Kazakhstan, are facing the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, unprecedented measures have been taken.
  • On Monday at the joint meeting of the chambers of Parliament, the prime minister gave a report on the government’s work in 2019 and measures taken to further develop the economy. The head of government noted that, despite the decline in world oil prices and the deterioration of the external economic situation, at the end of 2019, the highest economic growth in the last 6 years of 4.5% was achieved in Kazakhstan.
  • On June 26, Mamin took part in an extended session of the Nur Otan party faction, where he made a report on the results of the implementation of the Nur Otan party’s election program.
  • On Tuesday at the regular government session chaired by the prime minister, measures to improve the business climate and the preparations for the heating season were considered. The head of government emphasized that, following discussions with entrepreneurs from all regions, an Action Plan was formed that included 43 additional measures to support the business and ordered to ensure the implementation of all planned activities. When considering the second issue, Askar Mamin instructed the regional akimats to strengthen measures for quality preparation for the upcoming heating period, to complete all scheduled repair work in a timely manner and to ensure that all housing and communal services, healthcare and social facilities are ready for the heating season.
  • On Thursday, Askar Mamin introduced the new Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy, appointed by Decree of the Head of State, to the staff of the Ministry of Healthcare. The prime minister emphasized the importance of solving the challenges facing the healthcare system in protecting public health in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
  • On Wednesday, the prime minister chaired a meeting of the Council on the Transition to Green Economy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting participants considered issues of improving the waste management system, developing renewable energy sources, reducing air pollution, including through gas supply to settlements and the development of "clean" transport.
  • On the same day, the prime minister of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Digitalization. The head of government instructed the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development to create an action plan within a month on a set of regulatory and incentive measures to develop elements of Industry 4.0 and expand the Model Digital Factories project.
