Askar Mamin holds meeting on prices for socially significant food products

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a meeting in the Digital Office of the Government with the participation of heads of central state bodies and regional akims on the regulation of prices for socially significant food products.

Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev, Deputy Chair of the National Bank Aliya Moldabekova, Chair of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Serik Zhumangarin, Akims of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov, Kyzylorda region — Gulshara Abdykalikova, Mangystau region — Nurlan Nogayev, Aktobe region — Ondasyn Orazalin reported on the current situation and the work being done.

Since the beginning of the year, the growth in prices for socially significant food products amounted to 9.6%. Over the past week, prices have declined by 0.1 percentage points. Pavlodar, Turkistan and East Kazakhstan regions reduced the contribution of the food group of goods to the overall inflation. At the same time, the highest growth was recorded in West Kazakhstan (0.3 pp) and North Kazakhstan (0.2 pp) regions.

In order to ensure the flow of goods from manufacturers to retail chains and stabilization funds, the Government has introduced a B2B platform that provides online sales and purchases of socially significant food products. This platform allows you to conduct online trading between manufacturers of goods and socio-entrepreneurial corporations according to market rules. The principle of exchange trading is laid down, participants can agree on price, quality, terms of shipment and delivery, terms of payment.

The Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition issued 68 notifications of price reductions for socially important food products, 20 orders to eliminate violations of antimonopoly legislation, appointed 8 investigations, concluded 88 acts of antimonopoly compliance. 35 subjects of trade were brought to responsibility for exceeding the maximum trade markup for socially significant food products in Nur-Sultan, Kostanay, Mangystau, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions.

Akims of Almaty, Karaganda and East Kazakhstan regions indicated the need to urgently take measures to respond to the facts of excess of the trade mark-up for socially significant food products.

The Prime Minister instructed akims of the regions to ensure the conclusion of long-term contracts between retail chains and domestic producers, to intensify work to increase funding for the turnaround scheme and the purchase of foodstuffs for stabilization funds.

The Head of Government emphasized the importance of carrying out systematic work to curb prices for socially significant food products and, in general, effective implementation of the Anti-inflationary Response Package.
