Government is introducing a ban on the export of certain types of timber from the country. This was discussed at the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations under the leadership of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.
In particular, in order to prevent the unauthorized re-export of timber of Russian origin, to provide domestic enterprises with raw materials, a ban was adopted on the export of certain types of timber from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regardless of the country of origin, for a period of 6 months, and the Deputy Prime Minister approved a proposal for an automatic extension of restrictions every 6 months pending a decision to lift the export moratorium.
The issues of expediency of increasing the quota for the export of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil and the introduction of export customs duties on natural uranium and its compounds were discussed.
Alikhan Smailov also emphasized that it is necessary to determine the optimal volume of quotas for the export of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil, taking into account the interests of seed producers and to prevent an increase in product prices.
A number of issues brought up to the Interdepartmental Commission will be finalized taking into account the proposals of the relevant ministries. Decisions on them will be taken based on the results of the following discussions.
