Yeraly Tugzhanov and UN Assistant Secretary General discussed priority areas of cooperation between Government of Kazakhstan and UNDP

Today Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov met with Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

Priority areas of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and UNDP were discussed at the meeting.

During the meeting, Tugzhanov noted the importance of the social direction of mutual cooperation, including in the field of healthcare, education and social security.

Particular attention was paid to the ongoing joint work during the pandemic. With the support of the UN, 5 Class B ambulances with modern medical equipment were purchased. Within the framework of the project of emergency response to the threat of the spread of COVID-19, 190 thousand medical kits (individual first-aid kits) were transferred to the Kazakh side.

Spoljaric Egger noted the close interaction with the Government of Kazakhstan, including in the measures taken to achieve the UN sustainable development goals. She highly appreciated the ongoing work on the development of the draft Social Code, the efforts of Kazakhstan in the field of digital transformation, environmental management, the desire to transition to a green economy.

The parties noted the importance of strengthening further cooperation and the intention to continue working with UNDP in priority areas of the country's development at the national and local levels. According to Spoljaric Egger, UNDP will continue to support key transformation processes in Kazakhstan.

The event was also attended by Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan Yakup Berish, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan Vitaly Vremish.
