New professional holiday launched in Kazakhstan

Digitalization and Information Technology Workers' Day will be celebrated on 10 November in Kazakhstan. The relevant decree "On amendments and additions to the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 31 October 2017 No. 689 "On approval of the list of holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was signed by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

In this regard, the previously existing Day of Communications and Informatisation Workers, celebrated on 17 May, was renamed to Communications Workers' Day.

The new professional holiday was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan to support workers in the field. Today, the total number of employees is more than 155,000 people.

Digital transformation is one of the main factors improving the quality of life of society, ensuring the growth of productivity, and increasing the competitiveness of the economy. IT specialists are among the most in-demand in the labor market.

This year, Kazakhstan has taken 28th place in the UN Global E-Government Development Index ranking of 193 states. In particular, our country ranked eighth on the "online services quality index".

The decree shall enter into force after the day of its first official publication.
