Roman Sklyar holds negotiations with German economic delegation

On Monday, October 31, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar held talks with a German economic delegation, which arrived in Kazakhstan as part of a working visit by German Federal Minister Annalena Baerbock.

The delegation, headed by the head of the Department for Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development of the German Federal Ministry, Oliver Rentschler, included representatives of several German companies, including Svevind Group, Knauf, Lufthansa, Goldbeck Solar, etc.

During the meeting the parties discussed the issues of deepening of the Kazakhstan-German trade, economic and investment cooperation, development of the green economy and implementation of joint projects.

In his speech, Sklyar noted that Germany has traditionally been Kazakhstan's most important partner in the European Union and expressed Kazakhstan's interest in further deepening partnerships in energy, industry, transport and logistics, agriculture and others. In particular, according to him, Kazakhstan can increase deliveries of about 100 kinds of processed goods worth $1 billion.

In turn, head of the economic delegation Oliver Rentschler praised the level of interaction between state agencies and business structures of both countries, and noted the effectiveness of a special working group of the Kazakh government to work with German companies.

In general, representatives of the German delegation expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in the energy and transport sectors, and the development of new deposits.

In conclusion, a question-and-answer session was held to discuss practical aspects of bilateral cooperation. In addition, an agreement was reached to organise similar meetings in the future.
