Pace of economic recovery in Kazakhstan accelerated to 3.4% over 9 months

At the government session chaired by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, the results of of the socio-economic development of the country and implementation of the republican budget for January-September 2021 were considered.

Minister of National Economy Aset Irgaliyev, Chair of the National Bank Erbolat Dossaev, Minister of Finance Yerulan Zhamaubayev reported on the development of the economy, monetary policy, execution of the republican budget, local content in public procurement.

The Head of Government noted that the national economy is demonstrating confident recovery dynamics. Following the results of nine months of this year, GDP growth was 3.4%. The economic recovery was achieved thanks to the timely adopted anti-crisis measures. The key driver of economic acceleration is stable production growth in the real sector.

Thus, the volume of production in the manufacturing industry increased by 5.7%. Growth is noted in mechanical engineering by 22.8%, incl. automotive industry by 31.6%, production of locomotives and carriages — 50.5%, building materials — 10.1%, pharmaceuticals — 38.1%, plastic products — 31.4%, clothing production — 14%, furniture — 14.9 %, finished metal products — 17.2%.

In the service sector, there is also a steady recovery against the background of quarantine indulgences, the growth rate reached 2.9% due to high dynamics in trade (+9.3%) and communications (+13%).

Construction grew by 9.7%. Over 9 months, 10.4 million square meters of housing were commissioned in the country, which is 8% more compared to the same period last year.

The active recovery of investment growth continued, amounting to 2%, excluding mining, an increase of 15.1%.

High rates of investment in fixed assets were noted in construction (+126.3%), manufacturing (+80.6%), trade (+37.8%), agriculture (+36.7%), real estate transactions (+18.9%), financial activities (+15.6%), information and communication (+14.3%).

According to the results of January-September of this year Almaty, Akmola, Zhambyl, Kostanay regions and Shymkent ensured the growth of socio-economic development in all 7 main macro indicators; Atyrau, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan regions and Nur-Sultan — in 6 indicators; Aktobe, Mangystau, East Kazakhstan regions and Almaty — in 5 indicators. The lowest indicators were achieved in the West Kazakhstan region.

The Head of Government instructed to strengthen work to increase the growth and diversification of the economy, attract investment and create jobs, curb the rise in food prices, as well as ensure the high-quality implementation of the Anti-Inflationary Response Package.
